TV & Media

Over the years learn to dance has always had an impressive CV in relation to TV, stage, film and media work carried out home and abroad. Many of our kids have appeared in everything from Disney films, pantomimes, the West end, TV adverts to the Late Late show.

Below is some of the TV and film Projects learn to dance has been involved with in 2008

How long will I live

This program feature Dr Mark Hamilton as his accesses the health, fitness and life expectancy of some of his patients. His goal is to change their bad habits and put them on a road to a healthier, fitter, longer living lifestyle. Our role was to show that exercise can be fun. The doctor and his patient took part in one of our hip hop work out classes showing the benefit of both a good workout and the enjoyment that can be had while exercising.

Inside and out

We have done several episodes for this program that is aired on TV3.  The program takes participants on a journey of complete transformation over a period of a few months that will change their life forever. It includes plastic, dental and laser eye surgery and lifestyle coaching. The camera follows their movements over the weeks to see what changes occur inside and out.
Learn to dance was asked to teach them different styles of dancing. Hip hop, pole dancing and salsa, something they always wanted to do but never had the confidence. It was also our aim to motivate and install self belief and help them find their new confidante identity.

Celebrity Banistore

This program that aired on RTE on Sunday nights followed the progress of 8 local GAA teams from around the country in a knockout competition. The teams were managed by a host of celebrities including Gread Kean and Marty Whelan whose team ended up competing in the grand final. Learn to dance carried out a team building exercise for Glenda Gilson’s team. The Hip hop dance class took the boys out of there comfort zone but made them work together, took away barriers and helped them see each other in a fun and friendly environment. They worked together as a team, bonded and had a great laugh.

Falite Towers

The reality TV program that involved celebrities running a hotel over a period of a few weeks. This was a great success and a lot of money was raised for different charities. Don Baker, Michele Heaton, Brian Dowling were among some of the celebrities that took part. It was the role of Learn to dance to come in and teach a salsa dance class to a group that were staying in the hotel. The celebrities had to come and join in as the group had a few partners short. This was great fun and resulted in a dance off between some of the celebrities.

32A

This Highly successful and entertaining movie was released to critical acclaim last year to cinemas through out the world. Directed by Marian Quinn it follows the story of a young girl growing in to her teens in the 1970s in north Dublin. One of the major scenes in the movie was when the young teenaged girl attendants a disco for the first time. Niall Newman (our company director) was the choreographer on set. His brief was to teach all the actors in this clip to dance in a 70s style theme and to create an atmosphere between each other that would fill the room and come across on camera. There was over a 100 kids in this scene and it was also Nialls reasonability to keep them motivated and brief them between long shoots. Check out the movie and watch out for this scene.
